The App Store and Play Store are flooded by millions of apps. To be more precise there are over 1.3 million apps available on Google Play Store and 1.2 million on Apple App Store ( Statista 2014)
Seeing these numbers it’s impossible to ignore the huge market and business opportunities and many people try to jump in the business thinking it is an easy way to make money.
So if you are going to create a new app, you must know you are facing a huge competition and success isn’t something possible to achieve overnight.
Everybody are trying to create the new Flappy Bird, Candy Crush or social app but just a few of them succeed in their goal. So, how can you develop a good product?

Here are 5 priorities you should keep in mind before starting your new great app
1. Think about the community
Whatever it is about your app it must have an audience. So first, ask yourself these question: who is going to download your app? What it your target audience? And, why should they download your app?
2. Examine your competitors
It is a unique idea that makes the difference. But are you sure that the reason why you don’t see your app idea out there is because nobody else never thought about it? Sometimes your app idea might be genial but maybe there’s not a real market for it or people don’t really need it. So before starting an expensive project be sure to study some competitors and try to find something you can do better than them.
3. Think about the K.I.S.S.
An app can be something helping our lives or to facilitate a process. So, one of the top priorities for you is the K.I.S.S principle. What is that? It’s Keep It Super Simple. That means that if the idea is simple so must be your app! The login, the usability and the design. A lot of elements are crucial to transform your app from an innovative product to a “just another app” product.
4. Cut the costs
Many applications are real companies. They have a big team, revenue and a solid structure. But they never started like this. Developing an app isn’t something easy to do if you are not a developer and unless you don’t have hundred thousand of dollars to invest in your idea and, immediately hire a team, you can choose between two ways:
1. Hire and external agency with a team working for you. Pricing is lower than having an in-house team
2. Look for a co-founder to be part of your project and split the startup shares

As I said before, creating an app and soar among the competition isn’t easy. You must be ready to dig deep into Marketing and Advertising once the app is ready to be launched in order to let the world know about it.
