Meet the new Ralph Lauren high tech polo
Even the famous american brand is getting into the wearable technology in the most effective way of the term. Many devices are popping up in this last period and mainly are referred to smartwatches, bracelets and wrist gadgets.
But the fashion brand has brought the wearable into the next level: a brand new high tech polo
The Ralph Lauren Polo Tech shirt features sensors knitted into the core of the product to read biological and physiological information. The t-shirt also has a sleek look in black with a signature yellow Polo Player logo. The second-skin fit enhances comfort and agility.
“Our goal is to create and reflect the ultimate lifestyle, and we believe that a healthy and active life is an essential part of that. Ralph Lauren is excited to help lead the industry in wearable technology in this ever-evolving, modern world.”
The polo introduces a revolution in the wearable technology and it’s designed to improve fitness and wellness. It was developed with proprietary technology from Canadian-based OMsignal, whose team includes experts in neuroscience, sports medicine and engineering.
With OMsignal, the shirt itself is the sensor and the OM platform delivers a wide variety of physiological data through seamless apparel directly to the users via an app on their smartphone.
All the data collected is stored in a “black box,” which includes an accelerometer and gyroscope, which capture movement and direction. The ”black box” delivers the data into the cloud, where it is plugged into a number of algorithms that measure important performance-oriented biometrics, including heartbeat and respiration, as well as some psychometrics, such as stress level and energy output.
The new Ralph Lauren high tech polo will debut at the US Open to launch the entire collection of wearable products
This is a revolution for the fashion industry which is slowly integrating new technologies. A sign that soon we’ll literally dress tech clothes to constantly monitor our health status and prevent diseases before they occur.
