After the recent acquisition of Nest for $3.2 billion, Google is shaping the “internet of things” and moving his steps in the world of home appliance.

With Nest, we’ll be able to control our home devices, as the thermostat, and control those whenever we are. Something very simple and intuitive with the goal to safe energy and time.

At the moment Nest have just two devices available, one is the thermostat and the other is the smoke alert. But we’ll probably see soon other home devices available integrated with the Nest and Google technology.

But will Google control just the software side as it did with Android or will start producing branded devices as seen with Glass, Chromecast and Nexus?

The answer it’s still open but a new possible acquisition starts twisting in the air. It is a connected device company and its name is Dropcam:

“Dropcam is a cloud-based Wi-Fi video monitoring service with free live streaming, two-way talk and remote viewing that makes it easy to stay connected with places, people and pets, no matter where you are.”

Security is one of the hot topic right now and Google wants to be part of it. Dropcam can be used for different purposes such as: live monitoring babies, pets and also businesses. The status of the two companies isn’t clear since there’s not yet any official news about it but, in case, the company will be integrated in the Google‘s Nest division.
